Overview

The Sr Director, Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) is a remote role that will be responsible for actively contributing to the strategic direction of the Commercial teams. This role will be critical in developing and implementing cross functional communication to ensure the successful execution of key marketing initiatives. This position will report to the Head of Sales, Commercial and will support the launch plus continued growth of Dordaviprone and the Chimerix portfolio of future products.  The Sr Director, TLL will collaborate cross-functionally on field activities as a strategic business partner with Marketing, Commercial Operations (Strategy/Analytics), Compliance, Sales, Training, Market Access, and Medical Affairs.

The preferred candidate will possess previous experience as a high performing TLL or equivalent networking/relationship building skills with key opinion leaders in the space, strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a deep understanding of oncology and rare diseases. They will have a demonstrated passion for driving impactful outcomes through engaging with thought leaders and building brand advocates.  Additionally, they will be skilled at leading teams with or without direct authority.

 

The Sr Director, TLL will also provide insights into Regional team performance in conjunction with the Sr Director, Regional Sales and provide regular feedback to ensure the achievement of key objectives.  In partnership with sales and medical field teams, this will will also develop/review plans and actively contribute to executing key account business plans.

 

Key desirable skills include:

KOL Engagement

  • Actively contributing to and leading KOL Strategic Engagement Plan for the commercial team
  • Commercial cross functional KOL engagement coordination, driving and leading cross functional task forces to support a successful launch/product growth.
  • Leading and developing plan and process to assemble and coalesce insights from KOLs to advise and adjust strategic approach and tactical execution as needed.
  • Representing and being the voice of the TLL function on key strategic and planning task forces.

 

Internal Stakeholder Engagement

  • Leading coordination with key collaborators as appropriate, including Medical Affairs and Sales, to support coordination of commercial advisory boards as directed by Marketing.
  • Actively contributing to Speaker Bureau annual planning process
  • Supporting Patient Advocacy and Society Partnership plus exploring/contributing to Congress planning opportunities.
  • Actively contributing to and supporting the development of materials to support execution of TLL tactics.

Cross Functional Collaboration:

  • Encourage positive relationships with cross-functional teams, including Field Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs and Compliance to develop market insights and achieve shared goals.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of cross-functional teams to ensure coordinated execution across roles and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with legal, regulatory, and compliance partners to ensure compliant development and execution of all initiatives.
  • Actively identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with key regional KOLs on a priority list through 1:1 meetings, virtual interactions, and engagements at congresses.
  • Track and measure team brand sentiment scoring and the movement of KOLs along the advocacy spectrum.
    o Aggregate and communicate high-quality insights from KOL interactions to appropriate stakeholders across the organization.

 

Program Management:

  • Oversee the region’s execution of key programs and initiatives, including conference engagements, speaker programs, national and regional advisory boards, and programs at key institutions.
  • Contribute to the management of the annual advisory board plan and speaker bureau plan, including speaker training, ensuring their effective implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Continuously review and update regional plans and operationalize engagements with thought leaders through development and refinement of insight gathering processes.
  • Support and routinely engage with additional TLL team members to understand and accurately assess market conditions across the nation, help introduce TLL and Leadership cross functional partners to KOLs across the nation as warranted.

Regional Support:

  • Provide insights and mentoring to Account Managers in the Region and across the nation (as appropriate) to enhance awareness/understanding and ability to pull through commercial activity in their local accounts.
  • Key member and active participant of account business planning team.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously seeks opportunities to improve team processes, enhance communication, and increase the effectiveness of TLL activities.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or Life Sciences discipline.
  • Advanced degree, MBA, MA preferred but not required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered

  • Previous thought leader liaison experience preferred or demonstrated ability to network effectively across the Oncology KOL community
  • Minimum of 10 years of related commercial experience in oncologyor rare disease marketing or sales.
  • People management experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of taking on roles with increasing scope of responsibilities.

  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and managing competing responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.
  • Excellent collaboration/communication skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complexity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a successful track record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets and critical paths.
  • Ability to adapt and flex with changes to project plans, combined with the ability to quickly implement new strategies and tactics to accommodate those changes.

 

  • This is a field-based position and it is strongly desired that the candidate live in their region.
  • Ability to travel 50-60% domestically. In the field approximately 3 days/week or more as needed and some weekend work is required.
